Future’s perfect, now shake a leg!

In a span of a month, I had managed to get myself out of the fast-paced corporate world, and suddenly having all the time I want to spend on anything that my heart’s been meaning to do. Isn’t this what I’ve been pining for in the last few years?

It’s strange to finally be able to sleep in on a weekday afternoon, stay up until 3am, and then not be worried at all of being late for work. I had several dreams of running late for a meeting and, the most recent one, arguing with a co-worker why I had to be excused for a particular project. In between the dream and rousing myself awake, I did think about “why the hell am I doing this… I had already left, right?” Right on.

It did take me a while to get some sort of groove. Our house being not quite there yet in terms of getting some serious work done, I have the tendency to be distracted with clothes that needed folding, with the spices being disorganized, and just finding a space I call The Me Space. Somewhere to get lost in doing some semblance of work, without the household help interrupting me on what to cook for lunch or asking for change to buy ice. But I guess it comes with the territory.

I’ve psyched myself for this kind scenario anyway. I knew it would take a while for the things to take off. But take off it will, I’m betting my-never-will-be lard ass. It may take a week or two to finally let the dust settle, for this corporate work withdrawal symptoms to go away, and for me to again get some hard-earned money. If only I can remind the help not to fold away the table in my for-now working area, or have the willpower to just let the room be just a tad messy.

I’ve set my sights to a place that is so bright, I can taste the stars as they sit twinkling on my tongue. Future’s perfect, D, now shake that dang leg!
