Last Sunday, we purchased new fishes and a five-gallon aquarium to fit them in. We got two black fantails: Crow and Goh. They’re gorgeous, like sleek, masculine cars. We also got three egg-shaped pearlscales: Mirinda, the orange-colored one; Tigger, who’s a bit identical with Tiger; the last two silvery-orange with black spots. Mirinda, Tigger and Tiger are always seemingly hungry.
On our way to work a few day ago, we noticed they all got white spots. Worried, we marched straight to the pet store after work, asked about how to treat them, and were given all the required “medicine.” We were also surprised to find out that while right now they’re all about an inch long, fully-grown they become bigger than my fists!
This fascination for fish started over a year ago, when my daughter G and I went to a field trip at Bio-Research. We purchased two fish then: Goldie and Fishy-Wishy, orange comets. Fishy-Wishy has long died but Goldie still lives! Amazingly, she’s (always thought of her as female) been with us for one year and three months. She’s started out about an inch long too but now is about three inches long. She is Queen of the Five-Gallon Tank these days.
We are going crazy over our fishes that we take their pictures… swimming fishes, sleeping fishes, eating fishes, playing fishes.
It’s an insanely fun preoccupation.
