About

I wear many hats, but illustrator & storyteller
are my favorite.

Welcome to my online space, where I’m known as Finally Dee.

In here is where I bring together my love for two things—quirky drawings and beautiful words—while I wander through life with a chockfull of questions.

Life does surprise with its ever-changing plans, projects and perspectives but these two remain: I draw, and I write.

ILLUSTRATOR & STORYTELLER

Gravitating towards the whimsy

If there’s a common thread for the things I like doing, it’s about taking fancy at all things whimsical. There would be days when I’d draw frenziedly, or nights when I’d fixate on rhymes and alliterations, and many mornings when I’d muse on things I hold dear.

I’ve illustrated books for children and have exhibited art through my decade-long association with Ang InK (Ang Ilustrador ng Kabataan), an organization of Filipino illustrators for children. I’ve also created plenty of personal art pieces at my leisure time, exploring many kinds of medium through the years but always going back to themes I love most. Browse through the Illustrations section for some of my favorites.

I’ve also been blogging as Finally Dee for over a decade. Being the avid chronicler I am, I find writing down little life stories, in a sortov non-committal fashion, helps me figure out my personal affairs, irons out ruffles, makes me see through the maze.

My old Blogger posts have found its way on here. I’ve dozens of posts about experiences that have challenged me, reflecting not only what I hold dear but also what I’m passionate about. You’ll notice that each post will have a featured image—a piece that’s caught my eye or perhaps a place I’ve been—which I thought might be a great accompaniment to the piece. Dig in if you’ve time, and do chime in for comments!

Working in the fields of design & communications

If only I get to draw every day, I probably would, but working full time makes life a lil bit more interesting. Worklife is largely influenced by experiences in the interrelated fields of marketing communications and graphic design.

I worked at creative agencies that specialize in traditional as well new media. And though I’m not professionally trained as a designer, graphic design is also up there in the list of my preoccupations. I’ve helped manage a small design firm and was co-founder of a Philippine-based graphic design awards program.

Hey ya, let’s create something cool together.
