“Someday, I will be somebody.”
This was what I told a med school student friend some hundred years ago, when he asked what I had wanted to be someday. At that point in my life, I thought I wanted to be a doctor, or a lawyer, or an engineer. To be somebody with an all-important title attached to her name, to be Doctor Dee or Attorney Dee or Engineer Dee. I was out to create an impression on him, and coming from a family of the insanely titled, I imagined owning one.
Super fast forward to the now: I’ve a comms degree from the most kick-ass university this side of the world, but alas, no such title attached to my name. I’ve indeed acquired a married name, and inasmuch as I am now used to it that sometimes my maiden name sounds alien even to my own ears, I have not become Doctor Dee. I am just Plain Old Dee.
Still…I dream. Of being, well, a bit more known. So for now I create these pages in the hopes that a few folks may waywardly find their way here, and I’d get some love back. Enough folks to create a following that exceeds the digits on my left hand. So for now, I say to you, “Welcome, to the plain old world of Dee.”
Let’s take it from here.
